LS Quarter Horses is owned and
managed by Lynn Sowell with much help from her husband David, and her
daughter Brandy. I am lucky to have a few college age students that help
with everyday chores. Kristy Williams is my “main man” and she does
everything including hoof trims, farm chores and training. She is excellent
at starting my 2 year olds and I could not do this without her.
My foremost emphasis is
my breeding program. I own a stallion named Zips Double Dutch (see his
pedigree) and over the years have gathered a great band of mares. I have own
daughters of Good Asset, Rugged lark, Bett Ohio,
Mr. B Downtown, Zippo Sheik, Zip Off, Vested Pine, Zippos Old Gold, Radical
Rodder, Docs Outta
Town, A Sudden Impulse, Flashy Zipper and The Strutter.
I have several thoroughbred mares, because I enjoy breeding babies for both
English and western disciplines. I occasionally breed to outside stallions
and have 2007 foals out of Protect Your Assets, Skys
Blue Boy, Awesome Mr Te, Mr
Downtown Too and Lucys Doc. Our main emphasis is
in showing our babies in the yearling longe line
futurities and we usually win our share.
Occasionally I buy
young horses that we show or train for resale. I only buy animals that are
good minded, well bred and have potential to make someone a safe, fun, and
well trained riding horse. Over the years I have sold many horses to
satisfied buyers. Occasionally we take in a rescue horse or pony and have
received great pleasure from helping an animal in need and seeing how fast
these guys change when they get good care, adequate feed and gentle
handling.
I always try to sell
the right horse to the right buyer and under certain circumstances we will
let them take horses home on a seven day trial basis.
